Black Hills Vacation 2009

Here it is. A video of our vacation to the Black Hills, courtesy of my Hubby. Thanks, Hubby!

The kids did great in the van. A funny story from the trek up...

Dad: "Gracie, we're almost at the Badlands."

Gracie: "What???"

Dad: "The Badlands."

Gracie: "What???"

Dad: "The Badlands."

Gracie: "The Batmans?"

Dad: "No, the Bad-lands."

Gracie: "The Badlands? Our land's not bad, I love this land."

After we arrived at the lodge on Saturday we spent some time exploring the campground. Wow! What a place. The girls had to jump on the jumping pillow right away, and expend some energy at the playground.

On Sunday we visited Old Mc Donald's Farm. The girls fed the goats, pigs and fish, bottle fed the baby goats, held the baby chicks, took a train ride around the farm, and Gracie enjoyed two pony rides. Sunday night we headed down to the campfire to roast marshmallows. The girls decided they didn't like their marshmallows roasted. They asked the activity leaders to give them theirs cold.

Monday we headed out to Hot Springs. We stopped at Crazy Horse before continuing on to Evan's Plunge. The girls both went down the big water slide with us, but only wanted to go the one time. They didn't like that you went under the water when you landed in the pool at the bottom of the slide. While in Hot Springs we ate at Pizza Works, very yummy!

Tuesday we spent a big chunk of the day at the Reptile Gardens. We saw the snake, alligator and bird shows, had lunch and checked out all of the exhibits. Tuesday night we went to our much-anticipated Chuck Wagon Dinner. It was SO great. I can't say enough good things about it. The menu consisted of steak, spicy beans, and kettle cooked potatoes. For dessert, peach cobbler. The music that the video is set to is sung by the cowboy who sang for us at the Chuck Wagon Dinner. He was amazing, such an awesome voice.

Wednesday we journeyed home. Home sweet home.

So for your viewing and listening pleasure...
